Odyssey Logistics, a leader in logistics and technology solutions, has relocated its global headquarters to Mecklenburg County, creating more than 80 new jobs in southwest Charlotte.

DetraPel, Inc., a clean-tech advanced materials company, has chosen to relocate its headquarters and advanced manufacturing operations to Mecklenburg County. The company will invest $3.5 million and bring more than 30 new jobs to southwest Charlotte.

Mecklenburg County is helping residents launch careers in the advanced manufacturing, construction, and facility maintenance management industries. 

RXO, a high-tech freight transportation broker, will expand operations at its Mecklenburg County headquarters. The company will invest $13.7 million and bring 216 new jobs over the next several years to the Ballantyne submarket.

Nominations are open for the 2025 Crowns of Enterprise Awards, sponsored by Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.  

Mecklenburg County is getting national attention for its workforce development efforts, especially in preparing incarcerated people for jobs after their release. 

Small business owners can get free training from the Mecklenburg County Office of Economic Development next spring, and gain the tools they need to grow their businesses.

On May 9, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte named six local businesses as winners of the 2024 Crowns of Enterprise Awards. The awards honor small businesses that demonstrate leadership, practice sound business strategies, strengthen the local economy and support diversity and inclusion.

May is Small Business Month, and Mecklenburg County is uplifting the entrepreneurs and small businesses that make up the backbone of the local economy. 

Dr. Raynard Washington, Mecklenburg County Public Health director, and Shahid Rana, deputy director of the Office of Economic Development, have been named 40 Under 40 leaders by the Charlotte Business Journal.
